Good Change.

I saw the eye doctor yesterday for an annual appointment. It was my first time seeing this doctor and it was also the first time anyone (esp. an optometrist) has questioned my decision to still be wearing hard contact lenses. I’ve been wearing them since the 8th grade and had done fine with them…although the past few years I’ve become more and more uncomfortable while wearing them.

Well today has been my first full day wearing soft lenses and oh man WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! I haven’t had to take them out once for dust or eyelashes getting stuck in them…they don’t get dried out or scratchy on my eyes…and it doesn’t hurt to put them in at 5am before swim practice in the mornings.

I love them. Really wish I’d made the switch sooner…but better late than never!

I switched in 2005 and finally got my mom to last year- life changing!

Plus, you don’t have all the guilt when you lose one!

    Elly, thanks…me too!

Lauren, I totally forgot that we were hard contact buddies in swimming :-) I think I remember Melissa Thoreson wearing them too (wow blast from the past).

my mom is still wearing hard contacts…we’ll see if she makes the switch, as of now she doesn’t seem interested.

Was it the Dr at Austin Vision Associates?

If it was, I really need to ask them for a referral fee.

If not, then good to hear about the change. I personally will either wear glasses for the rest of my life or try to get my eyes lasered, because I just cannot put my finger in my eye, tried contacts for like 3 days.

Another big issue was my eyes got DRY while wearing the contacts, I mean DRY.

Ben, it was the Dr at Austin Vision Associates. I really liked her and it turns out we know a lot of the same people.

I told them when I walked in that you referred me…I don’t really know what the protocol is after that.

I would LOVE to get lasik one of these days…the procedure still kind of scares me and then there is the financial aspect of it. I guess I should start saving for!
