Do I need to slap a ho?

Tammy Bruce was on the Laura Ingraham Show recently and called Michelle Obama “trash.”

Quote: “That’s who he’s married to, what does that tell you? This is what we’ve got — you know what we’ve got? We’ve got trash in the White House.”

So the only thing I can think of is that Tammy Bruce must be blind, deaf, and on crack. I really can’t think of ANY other explanation.

exposed brick. yes please.

I’ve been following a lot of design blogs lately. I could spend hours (well maybe not hours) scrolling through lovely photos of kitchens, outdoor patios, living rooms, etc. My favorite design sites are:

Design*Sponge

Decorology and

Jeanie and Jewell

brick

I’ve been seeing a lot of spaces on these sites lately with exposed brick…and me likey. I keep imagining which wall in my home would work best being “exposed.” I hear faux brick walls are le suck though, my friend whose family owns a duplex in Rhode Island have a faux brick wall from the 70’s installed by the previous owners…you can guess how beautiful that is.

he REALLY is just not that into you.

Alex has a friend who recently had her boyfriend break up with her. His reason:

“I want to hang out with my friends more and I want to learn Spanish.”

…someone needs to learn to multi-task!

I went.

Just in case you were wondering. I managed to drag myself out of bed at 4:58 AM, put contacts into tired eyes, fed myself a few handfuls of cheerios, and jumped into a chilly pool by 5:30.

There were a lot more people than I was expecting. I venture to say at least 30-40 people. And a lot of them really gave me a run for my money in the water. It felt good to be up WAY before the sun and to be getting in a great workout!

It came at a price though. All night I tossed and turned in anticipation of the alarm going off at an unwelcome hour. Don’t you just hate that game you play with your mind? And now i’m so tired and have “jell-o” arms. But when I go home tonight, I get to sit my ass down and watch Dancing with the Stars. Because that’s what’s important in life. Oh yeah, we’re also going to make kabobs on the grill. gimme gimme!

wonderful weekend

Despite my weekend starting with a puppy peeing down my leg and my Saturday evening ending with me stepping on a twig that punctured my heel (that’s some THICK skin my friends)…I’d say that this weekend was everything I was looking for.

The number one thing that this weekend had going for it was the fabulous, I mean FABULOSO, weather. Friday thru Sunday’s sunny skies, high 70s temps, and warm breezes had perfection written all over it. Everything having to do with the weather and the fact that our larger tree in the backyard has vibrant green leaves everywhere has made me so excessively happy! I feel like the woodland creatures in Snow White, coming out of the forest with bright eyes, welcoming spring time! And to top things off I can hear Alex (right now) turning the corner with our new mower…it’s his first time mowing the lawn here. And he may be the only man I’ve ever seen mowing the lawn with headphones. He’s a slave to his tunes. And because he’s making our lawn look so presentable he deserves a big glass of icy lemonade and perhaps a chocolate chip cookie. Maybe I’ll even bring it out to him in an apron with a fresh face of make up and heels. Except I wouldn’t even attempt to wear heels right now due to my foot wound that I keep telling everyone about…my HEEL, a twig went through my heel!

It all happened Saturday evening, we were at my parent’s house and had just had a great Italian meal with vino and decided to enjoy the rest of the sunny day with a friendly game of croquet. I know. We love our croquet, I almost wish that we had all white linens and sweater vests to wear whilst playing, but we do not. Since it was so beautiful outside and I was feeling a little like Huck Finn I decided to forego the flip flops. Ten minutes into our first game of croquet I fell to the ground with an injury. A twig to the foot.

Notice: barefoot croquet playing is dangerous!

The rest of this Sunday will be spent running off the burger and custard we had a few hours ago. Oh yeah, we just found a new burger “joint” a few minutes from this house that made this weekend even more SUPER DUPER!!! Except now I’m pinching stomach fat and making plans to run this evening and even to go to the morning practice for swimming tomorrow. The morning practices start at 5:30am *I may hate myself tomorrow* and have a larger group of faster swimmers. I was told I need to challenge myself more since the evening practices I still go to three times a week are becoming easier and easier by the week. I really do have plans of going, come 5am when the alarm goes off tomorrow morning we’ll see what really transpires.

I will report back with the outcome!

paper pleasures

picture-18

I found a new site today. A site that speaks to my soul! It’s as if someone took everything I loved aesthetically and then used those things to design paper products…yet another thing I love! I now have an uncontrollable urge to go order beautiful wedding invitations to which there is no wedding…or stationary, something I already have way too much of!

Take a looksie poo though! If you’re anything like me, you’ll have to leave soon after due to sensory/awesome overload.

The Paper Nut (the cute squirrel logo alone is enough to make me scream with glee)

Spring 2009

I promised something new for the “look” of this blog. So for now at least I’ve decided to start having seasonally themed banners. I’ve seen it on a lot of sites, usually for each month though. So since I didn’t want to totally snag that idea (not now at least) I thought seasons was a good compromise.

So I introduce to you…the banner for Spring 2009. The background is a photo Alex took this afternoon of some new potted succulents sitting on the wood floor by the back door.

For each seasonal banner I’ll be sure that the picture was either taken by me or the husband…and will try to incorporate some design flare as well. Enjoy!
